THE TWINS AT ST'CLARES

The St' Clare's series is one of the fantastic and creative books that I've ever read since I was small. It contains 9 books, all surrounded about the boarding house life of the naughty and cheeky twins of Patricia(also Pat) and Isabel O'Sullivan. They both were arguing and fighting against their parents with their decision of arranging them to the St'Clares. The reason was very clear, they would like to move to the Ringmere School with their 2 other best friends called Mary and Francis White.

Initially, they didn't choose to adapt to the new environment and starting to get in trouble. As mentioned in the first book, they disobeyed the sixth formers, even the head girl, Winifred James ticks them off for not doing their chores like other girls. They didn't even cope or befriend the rest of the class and got placed in their time again and again.

But soon, with the effort of getting the twin "in line", they start to get some new friends, especially Kathleen, who become the twin's firm friend for the rest of the term. The teachers in the story described in a humorous way, and very interesting. There was Ms. Kenedy, the old and doddering History teacher, who normally comes in the indecent traps and tricks from these young ladies. Another prominent one is the French Mistress, Mam’zelle who gets nicknamed Mam’zelle Abominable by them because “abominable” is Mam’zelle’s favorite expression when something goes wrong. She was described to be strict, likes to give out detentions, and prohibits to everyone, especially Pat, for written bad French essays. But Mam'zelle is a very dedicated and teaching the twins step by step, she even saved their day once.

Throughout all the chapters, after wars, arguments with bad tricks, tears, disappointments, secret birthday parties, "haunted" Frech essays, behind stories, sympathy, smiles, and waves of laughter, jokes and mini fire-crackers, experimental animals flying and running out of cages, Mam'zelle screams and running out of class with fear, befriend with the head girls, Ms. Kenedy situation, and tons of memorable moments, Pat and Isabel reached to the last year of St'Clares, end of the journey of leaving an appealing impression to all audience.

For me, this series is very worth a read, because you will be a big fan of Malory Towers right after! The fact that the chapters were quite short and episodic, but it can't be denied that the book is addictive.
